brites urge customers to fuel up and check up

Despite the prolonged cold weather last winter and the associated practical challenges for deliveries, the demand for brites fuel between September and November last year was up by 61% on the previous year, to the highest level in five years.

Given that the weather predictions are for an even colder winter for 2011 / 2012, the brites team have had preparations underway since before the summer and are encouraging customers to ensure they stock up on their brites wood pellets for the coming months.

“With the busy heating season in full swing we are urging customers not to leave their preparations to a late stage and so far we have had a 38% increase from last year in the amount of brites ordered between September and November 2011,” said Paula Keelagher, brites Market Development Manager. “Putting off ordering can result in delivery delays, especially if transport becomes difficult due to road conditions. Therefore we are recommending to customers that they fuel up on brites and stock up on essential, non-perishable items as a sensible precaution.”

“We are also encouraging our customers to take the ‘brites 5 Point Check’ this winter which is a new initiative to help gain maximum efficiency and output from their wood pellet boiler as well as using and storing brites correctly,” says Paula. The ‘brites 5 Point Check’ encourages customers to check;

Annual Service - ensure that your boiler is serviced annually wood pellet stove being cleanedby a
certified technician to ensure the appliance is operating safely and correctly.

Store is clean - ensure you vacuum your store annually because although brites have less than 1% fine material this can build up over time from many loads if a store is not cleaned.

Advance Ordering - ensure you check your store to gauge when you will need to re-order and don’t leave it until the last minute.

Safety - ensure you have an audible carbon monoxide (CO) alarm installed according to manufacturers guidelines. This is because appliances fuelled with solid fuel may produce CO if not installed, maintained and used properly.

Thermostat - ensure you check your thermostat settings to ensure your heating system keeps you comfortable when you are at home and saves energy while you are away.
